XL 13

Written by Kris Van Autenboer
Length 13’3”, Beam @ gunwale 30”, Beam @ 4” waterline 29.5”, Approx weight 56lbs, Rocker 3”

The Mohawk XL 13 canoe is a classic Mohawk canoe. Super stable and forgiving the Mohawk XL-13 is known for being a great beginner’s canoe or a roomy canoe for big paddlers. The XL-13 is used by schools and liveries alike because of the fact it is so user-friendly. The Mohawk XL-13's three inches of rocker make it track better than some of the newer, more heavily-rockered designs.

Maxim

Written by Kris Van Autenboer
Length Overall 8'10", Beam @ Gunwale 27", Beam @ 4" Waterline 25 1/8"
Beam Max 27 5/8", Weight (bare boat) 32 lbs. Weight (fully outfitted) 41 lbs. Rocker (symmetrical) 4 1/2", Depth at Center 15 1/2", Depth at Ends (symmetrical) 18"

The Maxim, designed by Maxwell Johnston is the next generation creek boat. With an extremely flat planning hull it is very agile and fast. The chines run from bow to stern making for a very fast easy to paddle boat. With moderate rocker and full length chines this boat is fast, dry and boof friendly. If you are looking for a boat to rip the steeps to pieces this is it. As well as this boat handles the creeks it is just at home on big water. The deep bow and stern keeps this boat dry no matter the type of water that you prefer. The planning hull makes this boat surf and play with the best of them. For what this design lacks in primary stability it more than makes up for in secondary stability.

This boat is not for everyone, if you are not looking for a fast dry boat that boofs with ease you may want to skip this one. Let's go creeking!

Viper 11

Written by Kris Van Autenboer
Length 12’6”, Beam @ gunwale 27.5”, Beam @ 4” waterline 27.5”, Approx weight 49lbs, Rocker 5”

The Mohawk Viper 12 has excellent primary stability as well as good secondary stability. However, the Mohawk Viper 12's edge (sharper, less curvaceous chine) can catch cross currents and eddies and flip the paddler who has not mastered riding the edge. The Mohawk Viper 12 is a favorite of many paddlers that compete in the Royalex slalom race class. Its popularity - and multiple wins - is a testament to the Mohawk Viper 12's  precise handling. Few canoes besides the Mohawk Viper 12 have such a distinct edge. Since the Mohawk Viper 12's paddling characteristics are so different, our advice is to paddle a boat with an edge before you buy.

The Mohawk Viper 12 - Precise & on the Cutting Edge.

Probe 11

Written by Kris Van Autenboer
Length 11’8”, Beam @ gunwale 28”, Beam @ 4” waterline 27.75”, Approx weight 45lbs, Rocker 4.5”

The Mohawk Probe 11 is our shortest version of the Probe series. It has all of the characteristics of the longer Probes such as lots of flare in the sides for great secondary stability, rounded chines for easy side surfing and high volume ends. Smaller paddlers will like the low weight of the Mohawk Probe 11. Larger paddlers will find the Mohawk Probe 11 takes more skill to paddle, but they will enjoy the Mohawk Probe 11's added responsiveness, small-size and added challenge.

Probe 12

Written by Kris Van Autenboer
Length 12’2”, Beam @ gunwale 27.5”, Beam @ 4” waterline 27.75”, Approx weight 48lbs, Rocker 4.75”

Formerly the Probe 12II, the Mohawk Probe 12 shares all of the features of the Mohawk Probe 13 but in a more performance-oriented form. The Mohawk Probe 12 is 6" shorter overall and narrower at the 4" waterline and an inch narrower at the gunwale. Some stability is sacrificed with the Mohawk Probe 12 compared to the Mohawk Probe 13, but the increase in performance is noticeable. The Mohawk Probe 12 still has great secondary stability due to the flared center-section.
